HeForShe is a solidarity campaign for the advancement of women initiated by UN Women. Its goal is to engage men and boys as agents of change by encouraging them to take action against negative inequalities faced by women and girls. This was a hypothetical pop up event in a storage container at an outdoor venue during the summer. The goal was to educate about the campaign, get men and boys to join the movement and be proud to be a feminist, and create a safe space to talk and learn about the global issue.
Here is a scale model of the space. It is meant to feel like an inviting laid back environment; a lounge that also teaches you something. There's a lemonade stand at the front and large couches to relax. The couches are positioned to create the shape of the HeforShe logo. The TV screen will be playing the speech Emma Watson's gave to the UN when the HeforShe movement was launched.
This is the large infographic wall providing quick statistics that are easy to digest and also shows celebrities who have joined the movement. iPads would be installed on the wall for a quick and easy way to sign up and take the HeforShe Commitment.
There's a photobooth that prints out a photo strip to take-home. The idea is that these men are excited and proud to stand up for gender inequality. So this is a fun way to take a stand for women. The images would automatically populate onto a large screen in the space, sharing all of the images. There would also be an option to post to social media.
The take-aways are a t-shirt and folded printed piece. This would give that visitor the information to educate more people about the movement.
